WHERE TO STAY IN OTTAWA

THINGS TO DO IN OTTAWA

1. Visit the Parliament Building

No trip to Ottawa would be complete without a visit to Parliament Hill, the seat of Canada's federal government. The Parliament buildings are free to enter, and guided tours are available year-round. Be sure to check out the Centre Block, home to the iconic Peace Tower, and take in the views from atop the tower—on a clear day, you can see all the way across Ottawa to Gatineau Park!

2. Explore Rideau Canal

Ottawa is well known for its extensive network of parks and green spaces, and one of the best ways to experience them is by hopping on a boat and cruising down Rideau Canal. The canal runs through the heart of downtown Ottawa and is lined with cafes, restaurants, and shops. In the winter, the canal transforms into the world's largest naturally frozen skating rink!

3. Explore Parliament Hill

At Parliament Hill, marvel at the Gothic Revival-style buildings, including the Peace Tower and the stunning Centre Block, where the House of Commons and the Senate reside. Take a guided tour to learn about Canada's political system and history, and don't miss the Changing of the Guard ceremony during the summer months. The sweeping views of the Ottawa River and downtown skyline from the hill are truly breathtaking.

4. Browse the Boutiques on Byward Market Square

Byward Market Square is one of Ottawa's most vibrant neighbourhoods, and it's perfect for a leisurely afternoon stroll. Browse local boutiques for gifts and souvenirs, or stop for a bite to eat at one of the many popular restaurants. No matter what time of year you visit, there's always something going on at Byward Market Square.

5. Musuems & Cultural Gems

Ottawa is a haven for culture enthusiasts, boasting a collection of world-class museums and cultural institutions. Visit the National Gallery of Canada to admire its extensive art collection, including renowned Canadian and international works.
