My First Blog During COVID-19

Never Stop Dreaming!

Welcome to Fashion Calling! This is my brand new blog where you'll find fashion inspiration, tips, travel musings, wedding inspiration and more awesome stuff. The amount of tips, ideas and inspiration running in my head for years are all about to jump out!

First let me share a little about myself. My name is Loveleen. I'm a fashion enthusiast who loves shopping, travelling, and enjoying Indian weddings. I was born in India and currently living, working & wandering in Toronto, Canada with my husband, Riju. We're newlyweds, just got married on Jan 1, 2020 and co-owners of a Technology consulting firm (Techrangle), offering consulting services to brands looking to develop and create innovative applications.

We are all going through a difficult time fighting the COVID-19 pandemic right now. As the world reckons with an indefinite period of social distancing, people are finding different ways to cope with this. Everyone is learning new skills, gaining new experiences, taking time to reflect back on themselves and my coping hasn't been any different either.

While staying at home and with some extra time on hand, I've had some time to sit back and give some thought to what my real dreams are and what I actually enjoy doing. The one thought that kept bothering me this entire time was, "It might just be too late before I actually start working towards my passion and make my dreams a reality."

I watched a movie called HUGO last week which received critical acclaim and won several oscar awards. The entire movie kept me glued to the TV but one of the dialogues stayed with me:

" Everything has a purpose, clocks tell you the time, trains takes you to places. I'd imagine the whole world was one big machine. Machines never come with any extra parts, you know. They always come with the exact amount they need. So I figured, if the entire world was one big machine, I couldn't be an extra part. I had to be here for some reason."

I wondered what my purpose, my calling was...

I've always been a dreamer and somewhat a procrastinator my entire life. Just like any other child, when I was little I would often dream about being a performer, being a saviour, a guardian angel or something. Yes, I watched too many superhero movies but I always had this urge to protect people, to keep them safe. I am passionate about helping people with their problems and constantly finding ways to bring smiles on faces around me. Maybe that's my calling...

I've discovered, while we wait for our callings to present themselves, they are waiting on us to wake up. I've dodged through different careers and waited too long to find the right career, refusing to begin until clarity comes. Well, looks like the fog has cleared and I've finally woken up!

I'm not an expert yet, just following my passion and hope to get there very soon!
