For centuries, women have been fighting for equal rights, equal pay and emerging stronger than ever. The fight was never easy and it's still not. It might be 2020, but many of us are still fighting, standing our ground to not get interrupted, talked over, shut down or penalized for speaking out in a business world outnumbered by men. While we display strength at work everyday, shouldn't our clothes portray the same? The strong women that we are!
This topic is my personal favourite as I love collecting formal pieces and investing in a nice blazer or well tailored suit for office. I work in a real estate firm as a Marketing Director, and creativity plays a big role there as I tend to bring that along wherever I go. The environment is super corporate with hundreds of agents selling/buying homes everyday, dealing with clients and when you work in a corporate plus creative industry, you sometimes leave the dressing up part behind and fall onto your regular jeans, blazer, pants outfits.
You get so invested in your work that you don't realize when you lost grip of the dressing up part. And trust me, whoever said, "Dress the Part" really knew what they were talking about especially when you're dressing up for work. While we act our parts in the office managing teams, giving orders, running elephant-sized companies, dressing right is one of the biggest keys to success.
